Phoenix52 is a local community arts group that meets the first Wednesday of the month at 6.30pm in the cafe at the Wellspring Helathy Living Centre, Beam Street, Barton Hill, Bristol, BS5 9QY. The group is open to anyone who is interested in being involved in this East Bristol based community arts project and especially to local residents in East Bristol who are interested in meeting, networking with and collaborating with other creative people.
Currently Phoenix52 consists of a retired postman, a ceramic artist who also runs artists' studios in Baton Hill Trading Estate, a celebratory artist, a jewellery designer maker, photographers, community artists, circus performers, graphic designers, painters, textiel artists, etc.
The group collaborate to raise funds to provide creative workshops, exhibitions, festivals and events in the local community, and in the passed have taken over two empty shops, one which was used as a community artspace and the other for an art exhibition of local people's artwork. The Wellspring Healthy Living Centre (WHLC) is more than just a GP’s surgery. It is a community building which is home to a whole host of services to help improve people’s personal health and wellbeing. The WHLC opened in November 2004 and offers the people of Barton Hill and the surrounding area top quality health facilities and services to promote physical and mental wellbeing.
The centre also has it's own Art Room and a fantastic programme of creative opportunities.
