video and still footage of the illuminate festival held in st geoge's park, bristol, on saturday 30th october 2010, celebrating halloween, the mexican day of the dead and diwali, the hindu festival of lights. with workshops from 1pm and kicking off with a lantern procession, the interventions and performances ran from 5.30-9.30pm and featured installations, music and fun and games for all.
artists amy peck, kerry russell, sally reay, tim floyd, rhiannon chaloner, lisa yardley, vreni may, lou gray, bex rose, the ape project, catherine guy and friends and the ambling band combined to create a stunning environment, along with a pumpkin carving competition, piñata, doughnuts on string and homemade soup.
thanks must go to those who contributed photos from the event for the video - scoob, bex, amy, penny and guy - plus paul green, who took some great shots. all are credited in the video.
it was organised by the phoenix52 community art project with funding from bristol city council's single project fund.

This shadow puppet animation was created by 10 artists working in collaboration during a series of three two hour workshops facilitated by celebratory artist Amy Peck. The resulting shadow puppet show was filmed by Sally Reay and edited by Keef Chemistry. The film was projected on to the Phoenix52 Community Artspace shop window at 200 Avonvale Road over Halloween 2009.
